Ikata Overseas Student Delegation's Twin Cities Tour
[edit]
Monday, August 9th
- Depart Red Wing for Minneapolis
- Plans to see the Science Museum, State Capitol, Cathedral, and James J. Hill House in St. Paul changed due to oppressively hot weather and a theft we experienced at our first bus stop in the city.
- We contacted the police and gave them the details of the incident. They gave us a case number and took our contact information, but unfortunately were unable to turn up the thief.
- As a group, we decided to spend a leisurely three hours at the Science Museum.
- In the evening, we met members of the U of M's Japan Student Association and had a fun Q&A with them before dinner together at the Loring Pasta Bar.
[edit]
Tuesday, August 10th
- Morning rain, thunder, and lightning stopped us from walking around Lake Calhoun.
- Some JSA members went with us to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
- For lunch, we walked to the Black Forest Inn.
- Afterwards, we walked to the Sculpture Garden and met our charter bus there.
- We made it to Fort Snelling for the cannon firing demonstration.
- We went back to St. Paul proper for a stroll around the Skyway there and dinner at Mickey's Diner.
- Last, we saw "The Gospel at Colonus" at the Ordway.
[edit]
Wednesday, August 11th
- Since we were free all morning, we took a walk around campus, visited the bookstore, and crossed the Mississippi River twice!
- At noon, we got on the bus and went to the airport to fly back to Japan.
