Red Wing's Finest
Lindsay, Jennifer, Chad, Jackson, Ben, Sam, & Nic,
I hope you enjoy your touring of Kyoto/Nara & Hiroshima and your homestay in Ikata. You are in Japan today because you deserve to be - you are some of the finest young people of Red Wing. Please keep your eyes and ears open to learn all you can about the Japanese people and their culture. Japan is a fascinating place - I wish I could be there with you to help you explore.

Proud of you
Dear kids, Just a note to tell you how proud of you I felt when I left the airport yesterday. Despite the early morning hour, you looked very organized and excited to leave. I am confident that you will do a wonderful job of representing your hometown and your families when you arrive in Japan. By the way, you should be proud of your dear old parents too. I don't think I saw one single tear rolling down our faces. See, we try hard not to embarrass our children--most of the time !! Enjoy every minute you are there. Sincerely, Clare Larkin
Update
Chris and Clare, I relayed your messages to the kids this morning. They were all happy to hear from you. Plans to send postcards are currently underway.
They also seemed to enjoy telling the story of how Chris got the nickname "Chad".

Be sure to be creative and try all of the different foods available and take a lot of pictures to bring back home. Oh, don't forget to collect a bug or two for your bug collection :) due this fall in school.
