The 2007 Exchange Program between the sister cities of Ikata and Red Wing began on July 18 and runs until August 14. Track what's going on as events unfold on this page.

The 2007 Exchange Program participants are seven high schoolers and one chaperone from Red Wing, and seven middle schoolers and two chaperones from Ikata. Through travel and homestays, the groups will learn about the language and customs of each other's countries, up-close-and-personal!

To leave messages for the Red Wing group, please see the Message board.

A group of seven students and one chaperone from Red Wing hopped on a plane and flew halfway around the world to visit Ikata! But first, with the help of two chaperones from Ikata, they trekked through Kyoto and then Hiroshima for five days. With some travel under their belts and their jet lag conquered, they then began their homestays!

Nine Ikata families were kind enough to open their homes and hearts to our friends from Red Wing. During their stay, the students experienced what daily life is like in rural Japan, explored both Ikata and the greater Shikoku region, and partied hearty at several town-planned festivals and events.

Finally on August 1, the Red Wing group set off for the comforts of home... with seven Ikata students and two chaperones along for the ride!
