Welcome to the Town of Ikata website

Ikata is located on the Sadamisaki peninsula, Japan's longest peninsula and the westernmost part of Ehime prefecture. On April 1, 2005, Old Ikata combined with the nearby towns of Seto and Misaki to form the new town of Ikata, spanning the entire peninsula.

Ikata has a rich history; the area has been inhabited since the Jōmon Period (10,000 BCE). Sandwiched between the Inland Sea and the Uwa Sea, it boasts lush greenery and beautiful ocean vistas. The climate is warm, ideal for growing mandarin oranges and other citrus fruits, and the surrounding seas bring fresh seafood right to the dinner table.

Other sights worth seeing include Kamegaike Onsen, a natural spring known for its medicinal properties; numerous power-generating windmills, complete with park facilities; the Sadamisaki light house, from which you can see the island of Kyūshū across the Hōyo Strait. There's a lot to see and do in Ikata, so please pay us a visit.
