Hironori Iwai

Paintings by Hironori Iwai

Hironori Iwai was born in Futami, Ikata. He currently resides in Yokohama.

He studied under the painter who created the Issuikai painters' association in the late 1920s, Takanobu Kinoshita (1984–1973), traveling to France to study art from 1977 to 1978.

Since returning to Japan he has held many exhibitions, working hard to further his career.

We are proud to present for display two of his pieces, "At twilight" (oils) and "Woman" (pastels).

"Woman" was displayed at the 6th Modern Pastels Association exhibition, and is particularly notable for the consistency of its materials; Iwai pioneered a new approach that makes it look at first glance almost like a water color, with the woman's skin coming out a beautiful white.
