We received news last week that Ikata junior high school student Saya Shinguchi received honorable mention at the international level of the Sister Cities International Young Artists Showcase competition. Her piece was titled “Striving for Human Rights” and can be viewed at the Sister Cities International website. Congratulations, Saya, and thanks to our sister city of Red Wing, MN! It is only with the participation of both sister cities that students’ work can be submitted.

We hope that many more students submit their work for the 2010 Young Artists and Young Authors Showcases.
